Can I do this with RAID-0?

OK, here's a link to MS KB article that discusses software-based RAID. Note, however, it talks about RAID-1 (mirrored), not RAID-0 (striped), and further states that this is not available for XP Pro. Since you're talking about Photoshop swap files, I assume you're looking for RAID-0...

Can I do this with RAID-0?

I can't speak for software RAID, since I never used it, but no hardware-based RAID I've ever used--whether SCSI, ATA, or SATA--will let you do that. Those RAID arrays are created at physical drive level, not at logical partition level.

    9-in-1 memory card reader

OK, so we've established that the USB controller on your mobo is USB2.0. Now, under the Device Manager, change the View to "Devices by Connection" and make sure that the 9-in-1 reader shows up under the "Enhanced Controller." If it does--then the reader itself may be a 1.1 device. You could...

    9-in-1 memory card reader

Check the Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and see if you see something like "USB 2.0 Root Hub" or something that indicates the presence of a 2.0 controller. AFAIK, "USB Enhanced Controller" is USB2.0, and USB "Universal Controller" is USB1.1. Does your Device Manager...

Have you verified that the 9-in-1 media reader is USB2.0, and not USB1.1?

OK, problem solved. I had installed the Leadtek version of the Nvidia driver, then Nvidia one, and somehow along the way it corrupted DirectX 9.0c. I reinstalled 9.0c and all is well.

How's this for a budget gaming rig?

Well, that Sapphire 9800 Pro card is $124. The cheapest 6600GT card at NewEgg is $158. X800Pro cards start at $245!! I could consider the 6600GT for $34 more, but then I start playing head games... "hmm, only $40 more for 3200 Venice..." Gotta draw the line somewhere! Is the 9800 Pro...
