most smart thieves wipe out a computer as soon as its stolen before they connect to the internet.
then if you build a hardware solution people will complain about being tracked.
i do know someone that tracks all his vehicles by using sprint family locator and keeping the phones hidden and wired...
usually the panels are identical.
its hard to explain but the sharp panel could be exactly what was used in that dell and in 15 other laptops from the same time period.
so i went ahead and pulled it out and it is actually the same as the old one from my acer, so now i just go buy my ssd and figure out how to mount it inside this one and see how it goes from there.
when my acer drive went bad i just went to microcenter and bought a sony optiarc laptop drive and took the little adapter off the old one and put it on the new one and slid it right in, same with my hp.
i just assumed that what microcenter sold was the standard.
my original post said laptop, then i made an edit the night i posted and accidentally edited it out, then after i read the post with all the desktop parts i realized and edited it back.
i wasnt trying to be a smart ass. also i would have to be a dumbass to ask about a way to put a hard drive in...
