    Chaintech VNF4-Ultra with what core?

it is a lottery. venice OC higher than winchester, but I've seen, that last shipment of 3000+ venices were just about disaster. only 1 of every 5 CPU-s could manage 2.4G or over than that, most of them topped at 2,2-2,3Ghz, whereas for winchester 2.4G is pretty simple target. Many people swapped...

    Chaintech VNF4 Ultra

It might work dd400/1T/dual, if your 512MB memsticks are all single sided. if your 512mb memory sticks are dualsided (or at least one of them), then 100% it will go down to DDR333 and 2T. Though I'm not quite sure about single-channel, haven't tried that..

    Chaintech VNF4 Ultra

first thing to notice, it that you must have equal amount of memory on both channels. not 512+512 on one and 1G+1G on another. This way, you'll end up having just 2G ram. The right combination is 512+1G on both. second: you must note single and dualsided memory. odd number of memory sides...

AUTO HT multiplier is the first setting to change. Set it to 3x. You have regular ddr400 memory, and with your 220 HTT, its DDR440. Regular ram does not often go beyond this, at least with factory timings. To make sure, that memory doesn't limit OC, set DRAM speed to 166Mhz. This way you have...

Problem with my chaintech vnf4u board

You can make it simpe: just unplug the chipset fan connector from mobo. Does this void the warranty (if you don't forget to plug it back when returning)? Its a hard way, but I prefer having little higher chipset temperatures (but acceptable) than annoying fan.

I know that 20>24 pin adapter is not necessary, some even say it is not recommended. But strangely, without it, my MSI 6600GT couldn't get memory above 1200 Mhz (lucky having 1.6ns GDDR3 mem). With adapter, it ran 1330 without artifacts/issues.

Problem with my chaintech vnf4u board

i know. But to prove my point: first revision VNF4 ultra board had a passive cooling (i have too) and worked rock-stable. The reason CTadded a fan was high chipset temperatures at very high HTT frequency (ultra high overclocking, for example xbitlabs fried their mobo at 305HTT, which is ultra...

Problem with my chaintech vnf4u board

if you haven't overclocked your machine (at least not more than HTT 230), then i'm pretty sure that you can run your mobo without a fan (i recommend to remove it completely) and have a quiet (7V) case fan sucking air from the front or side. First revisions had passive cooling (aluminium ribs)...

http://web.starman.ee/az/hv/hq.jpg i have modded case. Well, sleeved ATX (in a garden hose :)) runs exactly over CPU cooler. Okay, its sleeved, so no real airflow issue. But then issue with 20-24pin adapter. 12V 4pin ATX cable is as long as 20pin ATX cable, but with adapter, main ATX power...

Sick of DFI - which Asus to get?

If you want a rock solid product at affordable price: go for Chaintech VNF4 ultra if you want a rock solid product and nice feature set: go for Gigabyte GA-K8N series. gigabyte have always been a great performer, while might not for the OC-freak (but still acceptable), they always provide...

I've been using this board for a while, from february this year, if i'm correct. the good things: >super stable board >rev 1 (passive NB HS only), so quiet board >good looks and small size >great OC capability the bad things: >stock bios is total junk >24pin atx power connector...

Need help selecting a mobo and processor

If you are "at home" with electronics, you can purchase used P3 laptop (around 600-900Mhz). You can even with broken battery/display. other option is buying used P3 uATX mobo/CPU, but its not that easy: construction takes a lot of time and it takes a lot of space.

nVidia Firewall works for all users but one, Chaintech board problems

it's just a NIC. If it works, it works, thats it. Don't blame hardware. HW just send and receive packets. If it does work with FTP/IM etc then integratec NIC has no problems. software is another story. See, if you have multiple firewall software? Maybe one software blocks the other. I use Win...

    VNF4 Ultra & A64 3000+ Overclock (Stable at 290 HTT, 2.61GHZ), BUT.....

many value memory modules don't like low timings even at little added speeds, it's often when ddr400 c2.5-3-3-8 memory can't do even 410. try 3-4-4-8-1T, maybe it can allow you upto 230-240. A64 platform is all about "megahertz ownz", so little slower timings don't change perfomance at all. A...
