well, unfortunately i missed the open box sale on the 1880ix card. I'm going to pick up one of the 1880 cards as soon as they go back on sale. i'm in no hurry so i do not want to pay full price right now.
I have a OCZ drive, a Vertex EX 120GB SATA II drive on firmware 1.4 and am not having any problems. I got it back in late 2009 and have formatted and reinstalled windows 7 x64 several times. Flashed firmware a couple times. Never had any issues.
Thanks for the quick feed back. I'm thinking though with the 3 sas connectors giving me the ability to use up to 12 SATA drives, I will never need to use an expander, correct?
I can't ever see this server running more than 8-10 drives.
I know my case came with one SGPIO = SFF-8485 cable. It says it supports up to 4 drives so i will need another one to support 8 total. I was just wondering if you were using it. Its for the HDD LED's and health indicators.
thanks for the advice....i was thinking that too, but really wanted to go with the best quality card in my budget. I'm finding that Areca is the best at this price point. Of course i have zero experience to back that up.
