tsu: if you buy retail AND if you are not planning to overclock, then the original hsf should be enough. otherwise, amd would not ship them with the cpu.

my vote is for windows 2000. one major reason is that it is more stable than win98. in term of speed, i am not sure which is faster. you do have 256mb ram, so it will run win2k with no problem.

I have a week41 Duron700 and the pencil trick works fine. So I don't think AMD has disable the multiplier yet. Try to reconnect the L1 bridge again.
