I have the same problem on my HTPC. If I dont have a disc in the drive at bootup I get that error "no disc in drive". Put one in and restart the computer, works for me :D

I have a Nec 1300A and have burned >100 Ritek G04 discs. Just make sure you have the latest firmware. (1.08 i think)

At work we have lots of Dell Optiplex. They dont have a visible reset button but if you take off the front cover there is a reset and power button.

You don't think loosing ~100GB of video and mp3 is critical? I sure wouldn't want to loose that much.

That won't help you if you get a virus or corrupted files. RAID and backup aint the same.
