Update I just restarted after a Windows update and this time, with no changes made it booted to the too bright screen but refreshed itself with no intervention from me.

Thanks, but I did that one already. Still on a reboot I have to open the CCC. Just click on it then the display is correct. I have been an Nvidia user since my first machine in Windows95. ATI drivers annoyed me then and I never went back till now!

I updated to the newest CCC/Drivers on Saturday. Radeon 5770 1 GB card. DVI interface. Ever since when I boot, my display is really bright. But if I click on CCC it goes back to normal. I don't have to do anything else, just open the app. Is there a setting I can change?

OSD has Overscan or Full under Aspect Control. In between that is 4:3 but it skips over that. I do not see Overscan in CCC. I see no difference in Full or Overscan when I switch. ETA: I have not had an ATI card since 1998! Unfamiliar with how to get to the DTV portion of the CCC, now I found...

Ati Radeon 5770 HD 1 GB on an Asus VH242H monitor. Tried HDMI cable and text is blurry. Anything I can do for that? I am using the DVD-D. Movies do look better though with the HDMI, though hate having to change cables.
