Info Fans Not Spinning - 7900 XTX - XFX Mercury

PTM7950 was advertised for the 7900XTX Mercury MagAir model, so it's got it. I wouldn't really call adding this to the checklist for shopping "dumb", it has so many advantages over traditional paste but a lot of manufacturers haven't started to use it yet either due to cost or habit. I bought...

Info Fans Not Spinning - 7900 XTX - XFX Mercury

Best hypothesis I can come up with is there's a failure on one (or more) of the fans causing issues, maybe it shorts one of the lines or something causing problems with the fan system. Moving that faulty fan could alter the behavior, I suppose. Ideally they easily agree to send you some new...

If its anything like the 9070xt magair, both bioses are identical. Since bios modding really isnt possible due to encryption and checksumming I dont even know why they bother

Weird issue, my 9070XT magair fans all work regardless of which one(s) I remove. They should all be wired in parallel so the circuit wouldn't be affected by removals. I wonder if its a bios/fan control issue instead? It would explain the odd and inconsistent behavior. Might be worth reaching...

HP listed the Z2 Mini G1a for sale last week and there were.... 5 units of most of the SKUs. Definitely the opposite of volume.

Question OLED Care Settings on OLED monitors

I'm making a minimal effort by having a 3 minute display off timer, moving my windows around each day, and letting it pixel refresh when I take lunch or an afternoon break midday. Between those 3 minor inconveniences it should last significantly longer before reaching a state like that, if it...

    AMD Ryzen 5000 Builders Thread

So you have a 7 year old motherboard you can drop a 3 year old cpu into. Thats a 4 year longevity, not a 7 year longevity.

    AMD Ryzen 5000 Builders Thread

If you bought a 5800X3D 3 years ago or a 5950X 5 years ago, you have nothing you could upgrade it to. That seems to me to be counter to the very definition of "platform longevity".

I think releasing new variants of existing products on the platform really doesn't count for "platform longevity" to me. Releasing actual new products does.

Not to mention physical size, weight, and idle thermals of the chassis. Oh, and the price. Pretty much every single thing about them is counter to the narrative he's been trying to spin here and in his "desktop is dead" thread. It's gotten old.

He will continue to pretend there are not significant compromises or tradeoffs that make a behemoth 6lb+ laptop with desktop parts shoe-horned in a non-starter for the majority of people. It fits a small set of use cases, and when you have one of them it serves it well and you're willing to...
