    Assembling a PC for $800

I'm sorry. It doesn't NEED to be from ibuypower...if you can show me a comparable or better website, that would be fantastic. I meant I can't assemble a computer from ibuypower and then buy a hard-drive, video card, etc. from a third-party source.

    Assembling a PC for $800

So, making a computer for a friend from ibuypower.com. I knew enough to buy a computer for myself, but that was a year ago. I'm a little behind the times. How does this sound? -Raidmax A8 Aluminum 8-Bays Super Light Weight Case w/420W Power Supply -AMD® Athlon-64 3400+ CPU w/ Hyper...

Looking for a 20GB (or more) mp3 player, but smallest size possible...

While I know you said you don't want an iPod, you should consider what headphones you were using when you listened to your friend's. If you are a serious audiophile, the iPod's headphones do not do the player justice. Listening with them may have given you a poor impression of the iPod. Getting...

    F@H Cruncher Question

Oh please, it wasn't that hard. Hehee. I understand what you're saying, but with the number of workunits being produced and the number of computers working on the project (as well as the relative long-term scope of each project?scientists are not, say, waiting on the results for a vaccine to be...

SETI CLASSIC: Welcome to our newest members of January 18, 2005

Hey guys, Thanks for the welcome! I am actually in the process of changing my 3 machines over to BOINC SETI, and will be done with that soon...however, since the classic shutdown is inevitable, I'll just say I await Team AnandTech on the BOINC side :) Is there any way to sign up for...

    BOINC Setup on Mac OSX?

How in the world do I figure out the URL of the SETI@Home BOINC server? I've downloaded, unpacked, and run the client in the Mac OSX terminal...I've also signed up for an account, gotten an e-mail, and have my key which I have put into the client, but I don't know what URL to give to start...

    Calculus Question

Ok, cool. I think my problem is one of someone who can get concepts if he studies them, but can't recognize them easily elsewhere (not a good type for math, eh?). We've never been given a type of problem like this before (using already solved functions,) and having to use the chain rule...

    Calculus Question

Thanks for the assistance, I'm looking up all the rules for the derivatives when you add, subtract, multiply, etc... Not done, but I think I'm out of the woods. I swear, my brain just wasn't functioning after hours of math worksheets.

    Calculus Question

I'm a good student in this class. I have an A. I just spent about an hour trying to find a solution for this problem using the knowledge I have, my notes, my book, etc. I'm not lazy. I'm working my butt off for one problem.

    Calculus Question

I didn't think that the derivative could be obtained from 2 points, just because they are sequential. That's the average slope. The derivative is merely the best linear approximation of the curve at a point. Just because I can get a linear equation from 2 points close to each other doesn't...

    Calculus Question

I can look them up...this is a take home quiz, but it is open book and open note. Please elaborate for once I have found them...I assumed all you could do was take the slopes.

    Calculus Question

    Ok, here's the problem. Let f and g and their inverses f^(-1) and g^(-1) have the following values at x=1, x=2. At x=1, f(x)=3 g(x)=2 f'(x)=5 g'(x)=4 At x=2, f(x)=2 g(x)=pi f'(x)=6 g'(x)=7 Ok. The questions are to find the derivative of f+g at x=2, f times g at x=2, and so...

    HALF LIFE 2 TROUBLESHOOTING/TWEAK THREAD!

I have a bit of a problem...at least I think it is. I already have a bit of stuttering, so I'm going to try lowering the sound quality, and then later doing the console tweaks you guys suggested. However, I was also curious...is the pistol supposed to make a noise when Gordon reloads the...

Applying for a Tech job...a little preparation?

That would work, except I need an e-mail and password. If you trust a random forumite, you can send me yours via PM, although that's a pretty big leap of faith. I promise I won't use it to read your mail :)
