Thanks for the response. I've done what you suggested and it doesn't seem to be the switch. Also, the computer will occasionally start for about 1/10 of a second then shut off immediately when using the case switch or screwdriver. Anything else I can do to pinpoint the bad part?

Does Vista have an "optimal" setting for refresh rates. It was a setting available under display properties in Windows 9x. You could run any full-screen game at the highest refresh rate at any resolution. With XP or 2k, this setting wasn't available.

Don't let managed copy be a factor. Managed copy=evil. It's the movie studios way of controlling fair use. Managed copy is DRM. It just sounds nicer. So I couldn't care less if managed copy is in Blu-Ray. Hackers will still hack it, and I'll be copying my movies without managed copy.

I found the group policy editor, but it affects all acount types and users. I'd want to set it so each individual has a different set of rules. How do I do that? BTW, how can I create Power Users? I know it's not part of the Users group, but at least it's a step down from the Admin level...

I first looked at my my gigabit NIC and it was set to auto-detect. Setting that NIC to 100Mb duplex disconnected the computers. Decided to check the other computer and it was already set at that speed. So I took a twist to your solution and put them both on auto. It worked! Thanks for the help...
