It's because you are using the optical.

There is a solution. it all has to do with the metal on the computer. the s4's are picking up high fequency noise off the computer through the metal it connects to. I sloved this problem by getting a optical daughter card for my sound blaster live! this solve my problem immediatly.

I had the same problem with my fop32 clip. One time i even sliped and the clip chiped my duron. I almost cried but then it worked fine after that and hit a gig. After a few reinstalls of the clip, it got easier to put on.
