Anyone want to decrypt this error message?

No protective software (Norton, ZoneAlarm, etc...) is running on this computer. There haven't been any software changes except for Microsoft Updates for the past few months. All this computer is used for is to access the internet, do some word processing, and listen to music.

Anyone want to decrypt this error message?

I should say that was happening in local folders, not just on the internet. So I don't think IE itself is the problem per se. There is definitely something malicious going on, now I just have to find it and kill it and make it stay dead. As an interesting side note, I ran a virus scan...

Anyone want to decrypt this error message?

Everytime I change the PRIVACY settings back to Medium and click OK, whatever is running changes them right back to the ultra-mega-ridiculous settings. As for the security settings, I've checked them all. ActiveX is enabled, and it is set-up to never download unsigned content or run ActiveX...

Anyone want to decrypt this error message?

I have a computer running Win2k. The following error message has started popping up whenever I try to open any folder, My Documents, My Computer, etc.. (even when I try to type a drive letter directly into Run from the Start menu). "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX...

    Bad Combo Drive! Bad!

My AOpen COM5232 AAH PRO will not eject CDs or DVDs after data has been read from them. For example, after I put a disc in and copy a document to the hard drive, the disc will not eject until the computer is restarted or until the computer is put into stand-by. I've already tried the drive as...

    DVD/CD Tray will not eject

It does detect instantly and is jumpered as master now. However, I'll try setting it as a slave or as a cable select and see if it prefers that. I had another CDRW a while back that insisted on being a master or else you couldn't use the IDE channel. Thanks for the suggestion.

    DVD/CD Tray will not eject

I have an AOpen 5232 combo DVD/CD-RW drive running on WinXP Pro SP1, an MSI K7N-L m/b with 512 MB DDR 333 Corsair RAM and two hdds. The AOpen is the secondary master with no slaves on that channel. Ocassionally, I will insert a disc, copy something off of it, and then press eject only to find...

    Dead Power Supply

Thanks...I figured as much. I put an Antec SL450 in my good one. This one is old and slow and only used for email checking and word processing. So I was hoping to get away with something cheap. Thanks!

    Dead Power Supply

I have an old Athlon system. Came in, pushed the power button, and the system was dead. I took the PSU out, jumpered the power to ground, and got no life. So, I replaced the power supply (since it's an old system, I used a cheap $30 Allied supply). System fired right up, with no problems...

    Error While Booting

Yeah...it's a little sparse being that I'm trying to do this without really seeing the computer. The CMOS reset is a good answer and I'm sure that will fix the problem. I'm just irked I didnt' think of it sooner. It's always the first thing I do when weird stuff happens. Thanks!

    Error While Booting

Here's an interesting problem I've never seen before. (Also, this is not my computer, so the hardware specs are fuzzy...I know it is a Windows 2k OS and there are 512MB of RAM. Sorry for the lame specs...that doesn't help diagnosing problems). The computer was turned on normally, booted...

    Help me choose a processor!

Are you upgrading or building a new system? If you're upgrading from an older Socket A Athlon, you'll have to get the 2800+ Sempron to be compatible with the socket. If you're building a new system, I would suggest an Athlon64 over the Sempron.

    Help, system is screwed.

I'm going to take a guess and say it's the motherboard. Even with a different card or monitor, the problem is still occurring, so the common denominator is the motherboard. Sounds like maybe the AGP slot has had enough. I don't think the CPU is bad. If it was, there would be some beeping...

What will be the last great Graphics card for AGP?

Personally, I don't think they will make a 7000 version. As for a 6850, I think it is definitely in the realm of possibilities. PCIe isn't taking over very quick, partly due to the lack of PCIe AMD boards. But, ATI is definitely moving away from AGP and I think nVidia will follow suit...
