i got an inspiron 6000 with the x300 128 mb and wsxga screen. I saved cost by going to a 40 gb harddrive. I dont mind as i am planning to upgrade to a larger hard drive within a couple of month. One thing you do want to note is that as wierd as it may sound, it is in fact cheaper to order brand...
just a FYI, the memory dell ships with their 533 mhz fsb system are 400 mhz. Yeah it sounds stupid but it runs just fine (not that i agree with it). I bought a inspiron 6000 1.6 ghz 533 mhz last week and it shipped with 400 mhz ram. I found similar complaints all throughout other forums...
great post, after i read it i got on chat with customer service and had them send me a disk also ^^. Thanks. I feel more secure knowing i got the disk for when i upgrade my 40gb drive down the line.
I do not know if you can save/copy the hidden partition over to your new harddrive.
