No, I am not sure it has ever worked in XP (this install at least) The drive is pretty old. I think I will just go with a new DVD burner and be done with it.

Lite-On LTR 12101B SCSI CDrom Device is what windows xp recognizes it as. I dont have SCSI though. Its run through IDE. ATA 100

My good ole 12x10x?? liteon cd burner has stopped reading all media. It recognizes a cd is in it but wont read any files on it. Any ideas? How can I clean the optics in it if that is even an option? It shows up during startup and xp sees it as a cd drive.

I posted this in the network forum but it was not getting any replies: I am having problems with my cable connection and was wondering if there are any programs that will monitor internet connection outages and log them.

I am having problems with my cable connection and I need a program that will log outages. The connection will work for 5 minutes then cut off for 2, work for 2 hours then cut off for 2 minutes. Basically I am trying to figure out if it is the router or the modem or what. Thanks for any help.

If you are concerend about the battery holding a charge just take it out of the laptop. My compaq functions fine with just the AC plugged into it and the battery pulled out.

I am going to be buying a dvd burner in the near future also. How long does it take to burn a dvd a 4x vs 8x?

hmmmmmmm maybe this is more camera than I need. All I need is the lowest digi camcoder that uses firewire to hook up with my laptop. Guess i should cancel my order :(

haha just buy it. Thats what i did :) Probably some good deals to be had with circuit city on sony camcorders 100 rebate and 100 msn dollars plus they 110% local stores. But this one is $470 right now and all the specs are pretty similar to that of the sony's.

dammit thats not what i need to hear. Alright I am buying it. Worst comes to worse I fleabay it or return it to local B&M store :)
