Vendors must be held accountable for the partner relationships they manage. My particular relationship is with the vendor, OCZ, not a third party. OCZ promised me a rebate, which was a primary criteria that drove me to purchase its product. It didn't deliver on its promise to me.
I'm merely looking to share my experience. To your question: I've tried the card at 3 retailers (rejected). I contacted Citibank (card # is bogus). I contacted Newegg (talk to OCZ). I've opened a ticket with OCZ (pawning me off to a phone number I need to contact). I've spent a lot of time...
Actually, I can and have. OCZ sent me a bogus card, period. OCZ is not taking any steps to make it right; instead, I'm supposed to do all the legwork to recoup the money I'm owed.
BTW, try googling "ocz rebate". The 1st suggestion is "ocz rebate scam".
I need to disagree. My next step is to spread the word about this scam. I've called Citibank. I've emailed and rec'd a response from Newegg (told me to take it up with OCZ). I've opened a ticket with OCZ and they have told me to call another #. OCZ should be making this right by cutting me a...
FYI, bought a 120GB Vertex 2 from Newegg in July. Diligently sent in all my paperwork to get my rebate. 2+ months later OCZ sends me a bogus rebate card (no $$ on it) then has the audacity to make me do the legwork to make it right. I've already tried the card at 3 retailers and called Citibank...
Known firmware issue with SMART. OCZ is working on a firmware fix. http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?76447-Drive-life-attribute-231-is-reporting-incorrectly
Not worth it IMO. I'm running a Q6600 (GO) on a P5Q Deluxe and ran into the same wall you're running into. Heat wasn't really the issue for me...but I asked myself, for 24/7 usage, does a 200 mhz increase really justify a huge bump in VCORE? (When I first got my chip, I really wanted a nice...
I read a post from Tony at the OCZ forums that you're supposed to leave your computer idle at the login screen for a couple of hours each week to allow garbage collection to do its thing. But make sure to leave your power profile to never turn off your drives (it's in the advanced section). Try...
After a little more research, I think I'll pick up a Vertex 2. OCZ does appear to have a special relationship w/ Sandforce whereby they get first access to new firmwares.
The other issue is that OCZ, in addition to Intel, appear to be selling the most SSDs (if you sort on most reviews at...
Been doing a ton of reseach for my first SSD but I'm having a hard time choosing. Looking at 120GB versions:
Gskill Phoenix Pro
Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe
OCZ Vertex 2
Corsair Force
Prices are all very close on Newegg, between $279 and $309. And the performance of the drives are...
