Packaging was a little cheap, but other than that I never had a problem with them, and
the memory runs great even (slightly) above spec (and my board's bios won't allow further pci/agp dividers, so I think

Obviously I don't know the details, but this sounds like an overclocking/overheating problem to me, not a memory issue. You should check the hw forums or the bf1942 forums for hw issues. On the other hand, if the sound switch fixed it, why do anything?

I'm working on SP "instant battles" right now.
It's a load of fun, but the graphics aren't as good as Medal of Horror. I'm not real anxious to play bf1942's Omaha, though.

Thanks for the tip on how to override this stupid setting.
I couldn't believe it - I just installed Riva Tuner the other day and had a nice, permanent fix going.
Then I had to uninstall the fix just to look around in bf1942! Annoying...
Anyway it'll be nice to get back to 100Mhz - no...

But the one that struck me most was an $80 external 16x drive. Plus your usual assortment of internal crap
that Compusa seems to be womping the competition on w/ their bundled- and not-bundled half-time...
Now it's moved to the N. Monroe station. Most of the junk seems leftover from the (now defunct?) clearance on Appalachee.
