Make sure your DVD drive is set to DMA mode and not PIO. To check for this go to: Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > right-click which channel the drive is on > Properties > Advanced Settings. Transfer mode should be set to "DMA if available."

Well, I picked up MVP Baseball. It's pretty awesome, but I do agree that balls hit to the outfield generally result in too many stand-up doubles and triples. But good pickup nonetheless.
