network adapter suddenly unrecognized by Windows (7 x64)?

Just a quick question, do you get link lights on the NIC when it's plugged in? I've been having similar issues with Dell Vostro's and if you have no link lights it's time to look at a warranty claim (if applicable) or throw a PCI-E NIC in there if you have the space. Regardless of drivers etc...

how to remotely manage PC on LAN? access denied

I'm guessing by the access denied error, you're not using a Domain admin account. So to access the other PC remotely for management you are going to need to add your user account from the domain to the admin group on the other PC. Unfortunately I can't give you much help on the exact steps as I...

    Rising Storm (Red Orchestra) Thread

I kinda agree. Nothing was more amazing to me than firing up the original RO mod and experiencing the game for the first time. Then it just got better and better. Sadly, while I really like RO2, it feels like a streamlined version of RO1, I really miss the tank warfare. Gumridge doesn't make up...

    Nvidia's CES presentation is tonight . . . 8pm PST

Not quite, take a look at the Ars article, unless JHH is a giant it's pretty damn small. I can't be bothered posting the pic as well, as I'm currently on a very limited internet connection. :( So you're just going to have to click it...

    If Quake were current gen

It is, but not as bad as I thought it would be. It does actually have a point and is good for a chuckle. The boss fight made me laugh anyway, especially when the achievement popped up.

GTX 570 - Cant choice 3D with DVI Dual link

When you're using a DVI cable with 3D, all you have to do is enable Stereoscopic vision (can't remember the exact name, not looking at it right now) and it will work off the refresh rate you specify for 2D in the control panel. You can also change the refresh rate in game if the game allows it...

Fujitsu SSD, anyone here used one?

Actually that's a really good point. I forgot SF based drives are dependent on manufacturer firmware. Hmm, well I'll check back later to see if there's any more feedback, but it looks like I may just steer clear for the reason you mentioned.

Fujitsu SSD, anyone here used one?

We get completely shafted on tech prices here in Australia. The 120GB Agility 3 here is ~$140 US. That said, supposedly our government is looking into it, doubt they'll do anything though.

Fujitsu SSD, anyone here used one?

So I made an interesting discovering while looking for a new SSD. Fujitsu have a Sandforce based offering out now. It looks like it's only available in the APAC (Asia Pacific) so far but the price is what got me interested. I can pick up a 240GB model for $214.50AU shipped (call it $215 US)...

Day Z alpha: How the zombie apocalypse should be

Start here: http://www.dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=58 You'll get a good idea of where to start with that, it's also worth reading a bunch of other posts in that forum, I've linked the Newbie guide, but one step up takes you to the New Player forum. Well worth reading. Just out...

Day Z alpha: How the zombie apocalypse should be

    1. Yes, have only ever see them doing it chasing you though. Closing them buys a little bit of time. 2. No melee weapons :'( (Doubt it's possible in the Arma 2 engine) 3. Yes, but it takes them a while to figure it out. 4. Not on flat ground, they seem to run slightly faster than you...

Day Z alpha: How the zombie apocalypse should be

I actually considered posting a DayZ thread on the weekend.... but I was way too busy playing. Literally haven't touched any other game for a week, all I play is DayZ currently. Can't recommend this enough if you're a fan of survival horror or zombie games. The tension in DayZ is incredible...

    Network Edge Security Devices

VoidRoamer, I've dealt with a few of these devices in the last few years, and haven't been impressed. To try and answer your questions directly, 1) While not always 100% accurate, you are getting what you pay for. The more expensive the device, usually the more full featured and useful...

Demul (for PC) by the person who did RivaTuner

I use nullDC here: http://code.google.com/p/nulldc/ Although they broke AA with the latest build, AA works with v1.3 of nullDC. I just recently got nostalgic and gave it another whirl and I'm very happy with it. Has good compatibility plus you can turn on widescreen for alot of games as well...

Need good disk backup software suite, ideas ? (No Acronis)

I'll second this. It will give you an image to restore from (simply pop in your Windows DVD to restore) as well as store incremental changes to your system in the backup so you can restore to Day 1 or Day 120 of your build. I am basing this off the Server 2008 version of Windows Backup which...
