    China's concrete usage; whoa!

I saw this statistic before...I have trouble believing it. We built a lot of damned freeways in the 20th century. I know China has done so too, as well as a lot of cities from the ground up. But still, I'd like to see some more details to really believe it.

    New Batman vs Superman Trailer

Yeah this seems to be the downfall of so many comic book movies. Avengers seemed to get around it because everyone had a well-developed backstory. But it just reminds me of the old Toby Maguire Spiderman movies where they just kept adding more and more characters to try and make the sequels...

    Newegg: see price in cart

Yeah that's sort of the whole point of shopping for items, to compare and contrast based on features and price. Obscuring the price doesn't help with that. Pisses me off too because I still find it slightly easier to use Newegg to look for certain computer component categories, but I usually...

Made a solid switch to DE razor and love it

I switched to a safety razor about four years ago. For the most part it has been a good experience, with the two greatest benefits being: -Costs significantly less after the initial purchase. The blades are practically free making me feel no guilt for changing them. That said, I don't change...

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah premiered last night

Have not watched the new host. I burned out on Jon Stewart. I like him and I thought the show was pretty funny, but I felt like after a while he treated a lot of issues as though it's obvious that there is only one right answer to them without giving much time to the other side. I like Last...

TIL Reagan once fired all the ATC's

Interesting story, happened before I was born but curious how something like that would play out today.

Baltimore boy gets a first double hand transplant

Yeah I'm curious how it works as he grows - will the hands grow too?

Movie: The Martian w/ Matt Damon, Sean Bean & Ridley Scott

Yeah same here, I really liked the humor of the book. The trailer gave the movie a pretty serious tone, I hope they keep it somewhat lighthearted at least from Mark Watney's POV.

    i5-3570k temperatures high?

I get that the stock HSF sucks, but are those normal temps for it? And what's wrong with using Prime to generate some heat?

    i5-3570k temperatures high?

Motherboard is a MSI Z77MA-G45 (updated initial post as well).

    i5-3570k temperatures high?

When running prime95 blend test, my i5-3570k core temperatures range from 100 - 105c on the stock HSF, which according to my reading is high. The fun part is that I've had this system for over 2 years now and it's always been like that. I was just doing a regular case dusting earlier and...

    Looking through OKcupid's profiles...

I used online dating extensively during all of my 20s, and I definitely agree with this when it comes to online dating - for all the reasons 88keys mentioned. I think there tends to be more guys actively using online dating sites, and the women that use it are generally on the lower end of the...

    Latest trend in website layout/reviews...

I first saw that style of website with a site on Bill Gates' gatesnotes I think. It's...ok I guess, I imagine they're trying to get the effect of a full-spread magazine article. I do like that it actually attempts to use more space on a widescreen monitor.

The hidden oil fields under Los Angeles

Hmmm...not sure how that site is considering "active producers". Near some of the beach towns I'm familiar with, it's placing them smack on top or underneath houses. Definitely no pumps visible from above ground. Perhaps historical pumps were there, or some sort of slant drilling?
