I survived the flight, the trains, and the bus... HI, from the Netherlands

Last time I visited Amsterdam on Queen's day, was quite fun except the railways didn't anticipate that many people would turn up.. They didn't have enough trains to ferry the people out of Amsterdam and then just packed up shop and closed the trainstation for the day! When the people realized...

    Enormous Zalman CPU cooler

I've noticed with my Thermalright SK6 on my Athlon that copper heatsinks are very sensitive to ambient case temperatures. Removing a case fan on my Athlon system usually increased the cpu temperature by at least 3C. People also got amazing low temps using the SK6 with a Delta fan, but when used...

    Enormous Zalman CPU cooler

To the contrary.. On hot days I regularly had problems with my Athlon 1.33Ghz and overheating. My room temperature is quite hot and I always have trouble keeping my case temps down. Thats the reason why I swapped out my Athlon for a P4. I have a fanmate on the YS Tech exhaust fan that is set to...

    Enormous Zalman CPU cooler

I am using one of those on my P4 1.8AGhz system. It really is an enormous cooler, but it does it's job quite well.. It can also run my system without a fan @ 2.4Ghz, but I'm using a quiet Papst 8412NGM 80mm with it to overclock it! My cpu never gets over 46C on 2.6Ghz with a voltage of 1.725V...

AMD->Intel switch - now what MB for these purposes (P4/533)

You could try the Asus P4B533-E motherboard. Unfortunately it doesnt have DDR333 support but it does run stable, even when overclocked. It has RAID onboard, Firewire onboard is optional too. Has 6 USB 2.0 ports. I'm running my system fine on a 350W Enermax PSU so I don't presume you will have...

Asus P4B533-E Problems! Can anyone verify if they have them too?

My memory scores @ 133FSB are quite normal for an i845E chipset (2100/2000). With the 3:4 divider my memory runs @ 176Mhz.. My memory benchmark scores are around (2600/2500) then.

Need help deciding on a board for p4 2.26

I think you should be happy with an Asus P4B533.. The board is a good overclocker though it has limited memory dividers, but the stability is top notch as well.. I'm not sure about the overclocking potential of MSI boards, but they are very stable though.. Layout is a bit poor which will...

Asus P4B533-E Problems! Can anyone verify if they have them too?

I also noticed the voltage problems.. You need to shut the system down completely before it gets updated. The Asus probe utility does read it correctly though. I haven't managed to run my PC333 ram stable so far @ 3:4 with a FSB of 132.. I am thinking of returning the board and going the RDRAM...

    ASUS P4B533-E right here!

I got the P4B533-E yesterday with RAID, onboard audio etc. The shop said that it was supposed to be the Firewire version, but when I opened the box it didn't have a firewire controller on it. I'm thinking of returning it cause I bought it there since I wanted the firewire functionality and...

    MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU vs Asus A7V333

The KT3 ultra I tested only had a chipset heatsink too. Regarding your questions about the onboard audio, The KT3 ultra uses a Realtek audio chip which has acceptable quality. I only had plenty of problems to get it to work under XP. On Win98Se it worked quite okay. I haven't tested the Cmedia...

    MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU vs Asus A7V333

A7V333: Pros: -Run @ optimal memory settings. -Better bios implementation -Overclocks well Cons: -Installation was a bit troublesome - USB2.0 support makes the board slower (bad drivers) -Incorrect reporting (?) of temps and voltages. -Location of floppy port KT3 Ultra: Pros: -Easy to setup...

    whats better maxtor or seagate?

If the other drive is a Seagate Barracuda IV then I would take that one. It does have quite a high seek time but uses a new bearing system make it the quietest 7200rpm drive out there right now! It is quite a bit faster Maxtor in linear transfer speeds but the seek time is quite a bit higher. I...

What's an Inexpensive Celeron 800 Mobo?

The MSI 6309 also doesnt cost much.. It does utilise the Via Apollo 133A chipset, but it's VERY stable and does overclock quite well (147Mhz FSB is the limit). See if you can find one around. I used one for quite a time and it has always worked without any problems!

    No 3d acceleration with GA7DX-R

I think it's an IRQ related problem.. Have you tried juggling your PCI cards around a bit? I think the 2nd and 5th PCI slots have their own unshared IRQ's.
