i have a motherboard with the realtek alc650 audio chipset (shuttle an35n ultra to be exact). i also have the spdif digital output card for it, and it's hooked up to my digital 5.1 receiver via coax. my problem is that i'm having trouble getting it to work in 6-channel mode via spdif. it does...

if you run a processor (or are overclocking) with a fsb of 166, you only need the pc2700. if you're running a fsb of 200, you'll need the pc3200. i'm using some geil pc3200 below the rated speed (pc2700 spec) on my 2500+. works fine. my system: an35n ultra / barton 2500+ / 512mb geil pc3200

I have this http://us.shuttle.com/specs.asp?pro_id=280 motherboard; a shuttle AN35N Ultra - i just picked up the spdif card for it, plugged it into the header, and i can't figure out how to get it to output a signal to my 5.1 receiver. i'm sure it's something easy, but i'm stumped at this point.

well i think that did it. i ran CoD @1024 with full AA and AF settings, max detail, and it didn't lock up. then i played silent storm for about 3 hours.

will do thanks for the recommendation. it is connected on a splitter with my hard drive and a slot cooler...

it's been like this for since i got it, but i had just assumed it was due to an incompatibility with my old board, plus i didn't game as much until i got my new barton system. as for power supply - it's an allied brand, rated at 400w, so i assume it feeds the card plenty of juice.

i'm beginning to suspect my 9700np card is somehow defective. nothing i do will keep it from locking up. i've tried drivers from 3.6 cats to 3.9+hotfix. i've tried running with case open for cooler operation, even though my case temp is low. i've tried disabling the vpurecover, fast writes...

did you try rolling the drivers back to 3.7? i use 3.7s on my 9700 and rarely lock up. as opposed to constantly with 3.8+
