The Command Line Interface version of Lifemapper
is about to be released for beta testing.
Its currently been built for Windows and RedHat Linux, and the developer is asking
what other binaries people would be interested in. Any thoughts???
nb. The CLI version should also include workunit...
You only get hit by it if either you haven't applied the security fix for a known bug, or you
aren't running a firewall to block the incoming connection.
Bummer about Confused's new PC though. Not a lot you could do about that other than
installing a personal firewall before connecting it up...
Only slightly worse than the Lifemapper TeAm... :brokenheart:
Been running with fewer machines to keep the temp down. :sun:
Maybe things'll pick up now the cooler weather is on the way.

How about Lifemapper?
The projects fairly new (came out of beta at the end of April), and we're trying to
build the TeAm up.
Nice fast workunit turn around, with a least 1 per Ghz per hour. The "View Profile" option
on the website lets you see what you've processed with links to maps and...
How about LIfemapper?
The project went public around the end of April, and we're trying to
build the TeAm up. Since the project is still fairly new, there's plenty
of room for making a mark on the stats tables. :D
No doubt you'd be top of the team in a couple of weeks :brokenheart:
but it'd...
Lifemapper is a great choice for low spec machines. :)
I'd say it turns around a workunit every hour per GHz of CPU, so each machine would
be adding several results per day. You also get to see the CPU usage per
workunit which can be handy for tweaking hardware.
We're also light handed on the...
Thanks LyNx.
I see we gained a new member "Mardeth".
Is there any way to get a non-proportional font in the stats post,
as it would save pasting them into Notepad to get things lined up?
George
Good news. A cross platform cmd line client is coming soon.
The next version will apparently also feature workunit caching
to benefit people with dialup connections.

Hi,
The Lifemapper project is the perfect compliment to SETI@Home
in that it aims to work out where known life on Earth can live.
Project web site is www.lifemapper.org
The Lifemapper biodiversity project went live around April, and an
AnandTech team was founded by TA_Andy. Since then our...
Thanks Lynx.
I don't follow the "Daily Models" figure though. I'm not processing anything
like 264 models a day.
As a team we're only turning out around 90-125 per day. Based on the main
team stats pages, and those of other teams.
:(

TA_Andy requested workunit caching a while back.
I've just added another post to the wishlist thread on the
support forum.

Don't known about Win2K, but in XP you just set it up like any other screen saver and tick the password protect
box.
Found this site offering a free utility to allow a single program to run as a service:
Firedaemon
Just gave it a go and it started Lifemapper o.k. (process listed and CPU jumps...
