Thanks for all the feedback. Since both chips have similiar spec's I went with the Celeron 877 system because it has the faster clock and was $30 cheaper than the Pentium 967 system. I'm pretty sure there are no Acer Netbooks with the Pentium 987 chips available yet.

I origianally posted this in the Notebook Forum. About 50 people looked at it but so far I have not gotten any replies so I thought I would try the CPU section.
I want to pick up one of the new Acer 756 Netbooks with the ULV Intel CPU's and was having a little trouble figuring out the...
I want to pick up one of the new Acer 756 Netbooks with the ULV Intel CPU's and was having a little trouble figuring out the difference between the Pentium 967 and the Celeron 877 CPU's (other than the slight difference in clock speed). I looked on the Intel website and both chips look...
Is it my imagination, or does it seem like every time somebody posts the name of a place offering a good deal on Dish Network that a few days later the prices go up (i.e. all of a sudden they need to include installation in the price).
It kind of make me think that there are a couple of local...
FWIW, I noticed in a review of the new Ipaq 3835 on "brighthand.com" that they say the serial connector is wider on the new model, and that some accessories will not fit
On the bottom of the iPAQ, Compaq made a significant change to the serial connector, widening it slightly to accomodate...
It looks like it makes a difference on how navigate thought the ASUS site as to what drivers you find. I was able to find my way back to the 1009 bios, and it appears to be on an english language site.
ASUS Link
The Asus Boards Forum in the link above is a good source of information. I had a...
I'm a little confused by the Asus site myself. I have a CUSL2 and yesterday I downloaded a BIOS 1009. I went back today as a double check, and the site seems to have changed. Now all I can find is version 1006a. I also noticed the message that you got when I tried the CUSL2-C link.
I was...
I happened to pick up one of those IBM laptops last week, but had been considering this KDS unit pretty hard. I see that Buy.com price is now down to $1049 + Shipping (and before any coupons).
Computer4sure.com also have these but the current price show $1149. Not sure what stock is at...
I got in on the end of this deal and received mine on Thursday. I was expecting .26mm dot pitch but manual states .21mm(H)/.14(V) with max resolution of 1800x1440. Never though I could swing a monitor this big for Home use, so much Hart felt thanks to "dcdomain" for posting.
UPS...
Are you using one of the new style ata 66/100 cables to connect the hard drive? They look the same as the old IDE cables (and has the same 40 pin connectors on both ends) but it has twice the number of conductors (80 wires).
From the error message you get at bootup it would seem you are using...
51 states?? I just figured they added one when I wasn't paying attention. Also, a 21" monitor for $380 +tax sure looks tempting to old guy with thick glasses. Crucial (also Micron) 256MB Cas2 for $90 shipped - I see why this is an expensive place to hang around, need to break this addiction.
Thanks to the people at Anandtech for all the info on WinModems. I know a lot more now than I did last week. Will probably go with a Lucent LT powered WinModem for the time being.
Would really like to go DSL. It is available in this area but so far I am not able to get it. Apparently...
SeaHarp, Did you check for (and delete) the "NO IDE" string in your registery as PowerJoe suggested. I have had this happen to me a couple of times when I tried to run an old DOS program. Each time I ended up in MSDOS Compatability Mode, and unable to recognize my CD ROM Drive in...
Another option would be one of the newer "Call-Waiting" modems.
Supposedly they recognize the call waiting signal from your phone company and give a ring indication if your on-line and get an incomming call. Gives you the ability to answer the phone to find out who is calling without...
