Yeah I know this. I ultimately want to get to 1 GB of RAM but could only afford the single stick. From testing that I have seen, there is not a huge difference currently. I suspect when I get one of the new AMDs late this year or next, then it will make a big diff.

I will give these a try tonight. I was leary with messing with the memory settings until I get a baseline with the thing running <g>.
Fingers Crossed!
Have a good new year,

Got all my pieces in for my monster system:
A7N8X-Deluxe
AMD 2400+
Corsair DDR 400 512 MB Stick
Antex Case (430 Power Suppy)
80 GB Western Digital (2MB cache)
Got some time. Got the MOBO, Memory and floppy installed in the case.
Noticed the BIOS was reporting I had a 1800+. Thought I got...
Yes you have the 3 year warranty.
Joe also spoke to an engineer who indicated that all the stock is of the newer variant. I had the same concerns per the Tom's review.

I was thinking the same thing. They focus mainly on the corporate world. They are huge in Europe--hence Tom's HW love for their monitors.
Joe is out of PA but the distibutor is out of Jersey. They do not advertise currently to the mainstream market since they, agian, have been focussing on the...

I know I will want to go to 1 Gig.
So for now, I will settle for 1 the single 512 and hopefully when prices drop for corsair and my wallet reloads, I will get the ellusive 2nd chip for dual ddr.

Need to purchase this year.
Regarding the warranty, from the AMD site. There is no warranty for the OEM version from AMD and if in the retail package, you use a different HSF, warranty viod.
Somewhat of a delemia. Do I see how well the retail HSF holds up with the tweaks I do. If all looks...
I will probably do some easy Overclocking without extreme cooling options. I am new at this so I would tread lightly <g> in fear of messing something up.

I am looking at the Sony DRX500XUL or DRU500A.
I am leaning to the external that uses USB 2.0 or firewire. Am I giving up anything performance wise going with the USB2.0/firewire vs. the internal IDE?
Thanks for any input,
gg
I have read numerous articles reviewing the board but I am consistently confised by which memory to purchase.
I plan on purchasing a single 512(Corsair CL2) for the moment. Should I go DDR 333 or DDR 400. The 400 seems to perform slightly slower. Not sure why.
I plan on, in 3 months or so...
googlegear has the 2400+ Retail with heat sink and fan for 191. Without for 160.
Is the retail fan and sink OK or should I get a seperate set? The retail product indicates a 3 year warranty. I did not see any warranty info on the no retail package.
I plan on doing some simple tweaks but no...
