Hi,
I know the problem well, just went through it on my wife's computer. I have a XTASY 6964 (GeForce3 Ti 500) + NEC LCD 1850X running WinXP Pro SP1.
The only drivers that I found to properly enable the DVI port in Win2K/XP is the 21.83 drivers. Subsequent releases don't work (23.11+).
Big...
Hi,
I own an NEC 1850X - actually I'm typing this msg with it now :-)
When shopping for LCD's, I actually bought the Compaq TFT8030 (20ms) and NEC 1850X (29ms). The Compaq had slightly better color saturation, but the NEC seemed to handle darker shades better. The clincher was the Compaq...
Hey All,
Here's something fun. This week my company pulled in a NEC 1850X on a 30 day eval (latest generation NEC w/ 18" display, runs about $1,350 street). Since I have the Compaq 8030, I was able to do some side by side testing.
Pixel Refresh: The 1850X has a pixel refresh of 30ms while...
Billhod: slight hum is still there. I didn't notice it in the office (ambient noise level is higher) but at my home office I can hear it (much quieter here). My guess is it's from the integrated power supply (no brick on these puppies). I'm ambivalent towards it right now (my pc technically...
Hi,
Okay, I took the plunge and am looking at this page via my shiny new Compaq TFT8030.
It showed up at work today. My fellow works, being the ever curious sort, wanted to see what it looked like. Displaying the monitor and my desk solicited many a "ooh" and "ahh". Compaq definitely did a...
Badga - actually azkiwi found it from an earlier post (here: Link). I will admit some interpretation. In the article, Mitsubishi mentions "which is aimed at LCD televisions and multimedia displays". I also considered Test99's comment above.
In addition, checking the latest Samsung Press...
Hey All,
As noted on Anandtech's web news page, there's (finally!!) a LCD comparison courtesy of Tom's Hardware. Check it out at http://www.tomshardware.com/display/02q1/020114/index.html.
In summary, looks like MVA based monitors (i.e. Viewsonic VX500, VG191) win out for web pages and...
Azkiwi: Nothing but good buzz on the Dell 2000FP (even checking the google news groups). The only thing that scares me is the 1600x1200 resolution (and I thought 1280x1024 was getting progressive these days!).
If you get it, *definitely* share your experiences with it!
(Hmmm, if Dell drops...
Azkiwi,
Good article! Note that it's dated "IDG News Service 6/7/01" so I think they meant 3rd quarter last year. Per Extremetech, we should hopefully see them at retail channels first quater this year.
Per Extremetech the "products using this technology are not expected to reach the...
I finally found a good LCD at my local CompUSA running CS which gave me an opportunity to do a little demo. The LCD was a HP with approx 40ms response time. In CS, the colors were a little bland, but, suprisingly, I didn't notice any substantial blurriness at first! I had to get up to a table...
I've noticed that for those people that don't see bluriness in fast action games (i.e. Q3A) are typically running non-GF3 video cards (i.e. Jetfire's TNT, Radeons). People that do typically have fast video cards (i.e. GF3 derivatives).
Billhod, an idea would be to slow down your vid card a...
Billhod: You saved me! I was looking at the exact combo (VG191, GeForece 3 DVI) to replace my 5 year old stalwart 17" Mag monitor. I don't have the desk space for a 19" or 21", so the LCD would work perfectly. I'm sure you were running at the default resolution (1280 x 1024).
Seems odd that...
The VG191 is much newer than the VA800/VG175. These models are MVA based, so they will have high contrast ratios. The key difference should be pixel refresh. Since the VA800 is undocumented on the website, my guess is it's about 40 - 50ms. Overall, the VA800 should have very good response...
