had the exact same error on my 1.6ghz P4 and win 98 worked fine with 1 stick but with 2 wouldnt even boot. I dont think win98 will see that much ram or wont see 2x512mb cause I got Xp the next game and no prob.

really just depends on the board. my old ABIT P4 board always reported temps 10C high than they really where using a thermal probe. a few degrees fluctuation between brands is normal
