What the hell did you think "arrival window" would mean?

I wanted to get cable TV for the NHL season, so I call my local cable provider (in Canada, so Shaw). We set it up, and decide that Saturday between 12:00PM and 4:00PM would be the window in which tech would appear. Saturday rolls around, and no tech shows up by the end of the window. I...

    China now orbiting the moon

Who said it was a race? Kudos to them for being able to pull it off. FK

Funny how a computer can make me question my self-worth.

I'm pretty good at chess. I played my dad once when I was a kid and played a perfect game until I made one mistake. My dad saw this mistake and turned the game around and beat me, at which point he said "I'm retiring as champion." To this day, I've never played my dad at chess again ;) FK

What do you tell a telemarket lady when she calls you in

"This is kind a bad time - I'm in the middle of someone." For the record, I also wouldn't pick up the phone, but I liked that joke and wanted to share :) FK

    Women Drivers

My girlfriend's car was in the shop because she scraped the side of it up while pulling into a gas station. I (foolishly) loaned her my car to use to get to work. She came home from work, attempted to park my car, and scraped up the side of it on a nearby pole. Lesson learned... FK

How do you avoid deoderant stains?

You're right - you don't perspire as much as others. By others, I mean me. If I don't wear deoderant, I stink by the end of the day :) FK

With infinite biotechnology at your disposal,

I think a scorpion stinger would come in fairly handy. No one's gonna f*ck with a dude who has a scorpion stinger the size of my desk coming out of his ass. FK

    I feel for IT people

I once got a call from the daughter of the VP of finance. Her computer suddenly shut down without warning, apparently. I go on up and sure enough, black screen, no power, no fans, nada. I ask her if she saw the windows shutdown process, and she gave me a blank look. I attempt to turn the...

    The eccentricities of human nature

I don't know if anyone else finds this strange or not, but my biggest pet peeve are people who pull their car over in a parking lot. It just boggles my mind how people can stop in the middle of the road to do whatever while there are dozens of empty parking spots mere meters away. I'm usually...

    The engineer and the mathematician

The philsopher Zeno was famous for his paradoxes. The logic used in the "joke" above is the grounding principle of this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeno's_paradoxes#The_dichotomy_paradox Note that Zeno didn't use this as a joke. Neither should you. FK Edit: An easier link...

It is just sad that some people are this stupid.

It's a video showing the French version of millionaire. The question we see is "Which of the following rotates around the Earth?" according to the subtitles. The four options are the Sun, the Moon, Mars and Venus. The guy doesn't know the answer, and so asks the audience for help. 56% of the...

    Worst screw-up at work

I recently had our test server pointed to our production database. I made a bunch of changes to test which showed up on production. Customers were calling asking why their address was changed to "fadafdafa", etc. Not such a big deal, and we got all the data restored from backup, but, man did...
