How much memory do I need?

With WindowsXP/Windows2003 it doesn't matter how much RAM you have it will still use the swap file on the HD. Obviosly the more RAM the less use of the swap file to a point but when you reach 512-1GB the OS will still use the swap file to sone extent.

    HELP! COMPUTER NOT BOOTING

You say that with just video and HD is sound like everything is OK. Are you saying you then get video with that configuration? If not see below. A CPU should not instantly be overheated from not reapplying paste so I don't see that being the problem here. If you took the CPU off the MB it may...

Ghosting a clean install of an OS?

If you try to use this ghost backup on a different computer that is a lot different hardwarewise then the one you did the intial install you will be wasting your time if it's WinXP or 2003 as those OS's will basically require a whole new install as the activation feature will NOT allow this...

Ghosting a clean install of an OS?

With hard drives so cheap these days THE best way to do it (which I have been doing for over 10 years) is to get a second hard drive and ghost the freshly installed drive to that new HD and take is out and store it somewhere. Then in case of an emergency you can put that HD in and use it while...

4 Gigs generic memory or 1 Gig Cosair

Hmmmm where did I hear this you'll never need this much RAM statement before? Oh that right... Bill Gates annoucing in the early 90's that "64KB of RAM is ALL the memory you will ever need!" While it is true the 4GB of RAM is NOT needed now, to say you'll never need it is short sighted. When we...

    this is WEIRD

When installing a new video card (or just upgrading the drivers) you should ALWAYS uninstall the existing drivers and setup the OS with standard SVGA driver built into the OS. This assures the least problems occuring. I would say to uninstall the current card's drivers AND the old cards drivers...

    something def isn't working properly

If memory is the problem it should work fine then. Be sure you are using the same memory as your brother's system! You also could have a bad power supply. Just because it supplies power to the fans doesn not mean it's good. The PS converts power to different voltages depending on where it goin...

    something def isn't working properly

Your memory could be the problem not the CPU so you will need to try swapping out each to see which is the culprit. Try the memory first as it is the easiest to swap out.

    Network Connection

Make sure you do NOT have a IP address manually set in the TCP/IP box under your Network Cards property. The setting SHOULD be "Obtain a IP address automatically". If the IP address is manually set both you router AND cable modem will not work when connected to that computer. To check if the IP...

    Help!! Hard drive question

If you want only one partition on the drive just use partition magic which will let you resize the partition to the whole amount of the HD and NOT destroy your data.

What a weird problem! Boot related

If you are on a network it could be that XP is trying to search out another computer on the network. Do you have any mapped drives of other computers setup on your computer?

    Computer lock up, unknown problem

Overclocking of either you video card or CPU will give you the syptoms you are experiencing so I would try setting your CPU to the default setting and if that doesn't work reflashing your video card back to the correct firmware.

I want 3 Hard Drives in comp. Can I use RAID?

Addin cards are only $20 or so, so I would suggest you get one of those and it will be a simple plug into the slot hook up drive and off you go!

Need good drivers for geforce 3 Ti200

Overclocking would not cause a driver problem but if you start experiencing video problems (tearing, ripping of video or lockups) you need to ratchet down the overclocking to where it is stable.
