To enable slave on the drive you have to remove the jumper.

I tried adding a harddrive to my comp last night and ran into a problem. I have a 40G 7200 2mb seagate which has my OS and data (set as the master) and tried adding a 80G 7200 8mb maxtor (set as slave). The seatgate was on ide 2 and the cdrom and dvdrw were on ide 1 and everything worked fine...

Hi, My Compaq Presario laptop doesn't recognize the DVD Rom at all. I ran Add New Hardware wizard but it said driver is found but hardware isn't found. The power for it is working because the tray moves in and out fine. Any suggestions? Thanks!
