Speakers

    Err... it sounds like you would like to cover quite a bit of space with sound. The thing is I don't think those two small speakers you selected would have the wattage to do that. PC speakers are near field speakers, meaning they're designed to be right in front of you, like on a desk. Those...

    Speakers

    Well, quality is all relative, right? =) The z640s definitely won't give you "all static"... there are lots of people that are happy with them. If you want 5.1 now, go for them, but if you don't need it, then it might be better to get the z-3's... they seem really cheap after rebate too. For...

    recomendations on a speaker system

    Logitech z-680s are nice but many people find their bass boomy and exaggerated. If you're going for something a bit more balanced, try the Megaworks 550... they have a better midrange and are better for music. If you do a lot more gaming though, the boomy bass might be the thing for you. It...

    Speakers

    You've picked good speakers for that price point. 5.1 is more for gaming and movies, 2.1 is more for music. Better quality or surround sound... up to you to decide which one.

    NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS =( =(

    Wow... that was EXACTLY the problem. Dclive is an absolute saint! If you had a feedback rating I'd say A++++++++++++++++. =P

    NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS =( =(

    Alright, will do when I get home from work. Update from this morning: uninstalling Creative drivers didn't work, and Prime95 ran without error overnight... so I think it's safe to say the CPU and memory is ok.

    what are some good speakers for laptop?

    If you're listening to mostly music, you might be better off sticking with a better quality 2.1 system than a lower quality 5.1, but if you really want the surround sound effect, then that's your call. The only problem is most laptops don't really have sound cards that handle surround sound, so...

    Please help me test a Dell 2001FP

    My 2001FP came in today...

    Yup, scaling on my 2001fp has been great. I've been playing farcry at 1024x768 so I can get better effects with a higher frame rate, and it still looks fantastic.

    The Best mid-range 5.1 Speakers...

    I've heard the Klipsch GMX systems aren't so great for their price. What are you going to use your speakers for though? Music? Gaming? Movies? Xbox, PS2, Gamecube? If you're hooking them up to your audigy 2 (btw, if you don't need 7.1, then you don't need the zs), then you don't really...

    5.1 speaker setup

    Yup, the z5300s are also a good deal. These are probably some of the cheapest speaker stands out there: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2045620&cat=3964&type=19&dept=3944&path=0%3A3944%3A62055%3A3964 You might consider getting those for your rears.

    5.1 speaker setup

    You can go the cheaper route or invent a bit more money and get a really nice system. For under $80, there's the Logitech Z640: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=36-121-104&depa=0 which has a great deal right now. After that there isn't anything worth the money...
