Thanks for the response - I've tried about 1/2 the things on your list including cleaning out the drivers! Not sure about the PSU - it's a high quality Tagan but only 430W. I've connected up the card using a dedicated 6 pin connector from the PSU which seems to fit, but no idea of the amps...

I'm also getting 50xx in 3dmark05 with an almost identical system (A64 3500+, 1gb! ram), leadtek 7800GT. How do I turn off vsync within forceware/3dmark? Anything else that could be causing the problem?
