Thanks. It was indeed the fan controller, when i plugged it straight into thye motherboard it spun up fine.

Installing a Zalman 9500 Here Plugged it through the included fan controller into my CPU fan power on the mobo. I start my system, the CPU fan lights and starts spinnging, and then after 10 seconds stops. This is with the fan control set to maximum performance. I'm using an AMD Athlon X2...
