I'm pretty sure it is not a firmware problem. The first drive was a hacked v1.15 that did not work. The new one is official 1.21 that doesn't work. Also the drive worked fine in a different computer running xp. I'm thinking it has something to do with ICH7R and my current config or vista.
mobo: asus p5w dh deluxe
dvd drive: pioneer dvr-112d (fw: official 1.21)
os: vista ultimate 32bit
My dvd drive will read all types of disks and burn dvd-r. But when I put verbatim dvd+r dl and cd-r into the drive, it will keep spinning and making a scanning noise every 5 seconds...
Okay thanks for that. Are my temps in the correct range for stock extreme hs with 75-80F ambient? Seems that if I were to put my computer under 100% load that it would easily exceed 60C.
I guess the only way to find out is to try it. Also going to reseat hs later.
I noticed that Intel supplies different heatsinks for their extreme models and regular c2d models. Is there any problems with running the extreme hs with my E6600?
My idle temps with coretemp are around 43C - 45C with ambient temp I'm guessing in the range of 75F - 80F. At about 40-50%...
