No, no, no. Don't cut the wick. You don't need to make it shorter for shorter flame. Cutting it level with the top of the chimney, or top of the striker wheel, gives best results. Any shorter, and it becomes not nearly as wind resistant as it should be. Yes, you can adjust the flame on a Zippo...
