-Welll now. I did not expect this flurry of such good responses.
The ATI is replacing a GeForce4 which has had merely acceptable 2d image quality. That replaced an ELSA Gladiac GeForce2 GTS which was horrendous in this regard and gave me a headache too.. even driving a SONY GDM F500 at 100...
 Sure I want S.O.T.A. gaming performance (August 3) , but like most everybody the main PC gets used for other 2d Windows applications... most of the time.
Does anyone have an informed opinion on which affords the best 2d image quality for the more mundane usage?
I have an ATI...
This GA-8KNXP Ultra is anvil-stable with Corsair TwinX 3200LL at 2-6-3-3 for weeks. They are two pairs of 512s = 2GB. Black heat spreaders. BIOS is F5.
CableOrganizer carries Flexo Pet, heatshrink and heat guns: http://cableorganizer.com/flexo-pet/
I invested in several spools of 1/8 and 1/4 in various colors.
If you want UV reactive sleeving, FrozenCPU and PerformancePCs has some.
I use a Wahl Micro-Therm portable butane heat gun for heat...
Well THIS is pretty lame...
If no RAID support, what about the other configuration stuff in the SCSIselect Utility like termination, targets, SCSI levels and low level formatting?
Have a nice day... B-BYE!

It's on the PCI bus. Adequate bandwidth for my needs; 2 Cheetah 15K.3s on Bus0 and SE devices on Bus1.
To obtain 64 bit SCSI support, you'd have to use a PCI/PCIX 64 bit Adaptec HBA on a server board with 64 bit slots such as a Tyan or Supermicro. And I am unaware of any of these that also...
My plan is to use my two new ST373453LWs striped for RAID0. But until they get around fixing the Adaptec BIOS, the SCSIselect Utility is unavailable to configure HostRAID for this or anything else in there.
Ordered last night was a second pair of 512 TwinX 3200LL from GoogleGear @ $283 for the pair with free UPS 2. AFAIK I will be one of the first thrill-seekers in here to attempt 4x512 TwinX 3200LLs on the 8KNXP Ultra . I might have to relax the timings a bit more to get everybody stable...
I would concur with that. Don't forget that along with Tejas, out goes PCI too. A very profound change overall.
Safe to say that we will continue with the continuing spiral of throwing money at them. A long time ago, I gave my wife The Computer Widow's Handbook. Everything predicted in it...
Thanks for the good thoughts. She has a ways to go with a side trip for some rehab before she comes home. She was gravely ill for a week. Kind of puts things into perspective... you appreciate the good times in life far more when you have had to confront adversity. It has been a banner year...
Absolutely... the chief difference with the 8KNXP-Ultra model and the reason it streets for $400+. See Evan's review on it right here: http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.html?i=1813&p=2
I already have a couple of 39320 Dual Channel U160 boards, 4 SCSI Plextors, 2 Pioneer 305S SCSI DVD-ROMs and 5 15K Cheetahs of various capacities. I don't even own an EIDE hard drive.
My attraction to the Gigabyte with the inbedded SCSI was for neatness of cabling, low slot usage and the...
I certainly will, bc120.
Which reminds me... I should go complete the User Review for this board at the dealer, AxionTech.com. I might as well warn some folks off who are thinking of spending a +$200 premium for imbedded SCSI HostRAID that does not work.
