Do yourself a favor and download Movable Type. Then read read read the configuration documentation. You'll be so glad you tackled this once your Movable Type blog is up and running. It's not the easiest thing in the world to install, but it is crazy configurable and totally worth the effort...
The reason the SMC/printer combo is 'hanging' is because the print server on the SMC7004BR is not bi-directional. I have the same SMC barricade router and I have the same problem.

OK... I know of 3 of these. They are called 3270 Emulators. The best one that I've used is called RUMBA and it was made by a company called WallData up until a few years ago. Now it has been bought by Netmanage. I haven't used it since it was purchased by Netmanage. Link

Are you talking about CICS that runs on a mainframe? If so, I know of a few different pieces of software that will let you do this. I work in a large mainframe datacenter and we use them all the time.

I was just at the Fry's in Fountain Valley over my lunch break specifically for the Seagate drive. The line to checkout was INSANE! I'm going back after work to pick it up when I have more time to stand in line. They had tons of them.
