I don't use firefox anymore (completely moved to chrome), but I think, if you click on "more" next to 7690, you can see which file you have to delete from the pluginfolder.

I looked into this and it is amazing what quality you get using these (I made it myself easy and installed Kawaii Codec Pack). But besides that, it has not much to do with installing Quicktime, yes or no.

I didn't mention it, because it isnt tested very much. It doens't work with a freshly installed Firefox for example, but I think here is Firefox to blame. But I am happy it works for you and you figured out it was 774 :)
