i would love to if I knew how, with out doing a reinstall. My googling tells me this might be a little over my head at least for xp.

I tried the easeus todo utility. It is very easy to use.
It signaficantly increased my write speeds. for 170 MB/sec to 230mb/sec max using ATTO. Not bad considering im on sata II in ide mode. Read speeds did not increase stayed at bout 240MB/sec

I was using diskpar.exe to align the drive. I used acronis to clone the drive. I checked the alignment befor and after cloning with diskpar. befor it said it started at sector 2048 and after cloning 63.

I am running windows xp and would like to move to a vertex 3 as my OS drive. I have followed the procedure for aligning the ssd and was being lazy so i just tried cloning to the new drive but apparently cloning seems to change the alignment to the original drive.

Usually you have to hit a key for it to boot from CD/DVD other wise it will boot to your 2ndary boot device which sounds like what is happening.
Alternatively, You can enable ahci after win 7 install in IDE mode though you will be required to install the AHCI drivers when you boot up...
So it seems to me that when RAM is advertised as "triple channel" its nothing more than 3 sticks of the identical ram...
I was looking at the EVGA x58 sli and it seems from the manual that it cannot do asymmetrical triple channel. Not a deal breaker for me but I will see if the P6T deluxe can...
I currently have 4x1gig ddr3 2000 in my current rig on nv790i mobo.
Can I take 3 of these sticks and run them on an x58 motherboard in triple channel mode so long as the specs of the 3 sticks are exactly the same?
I don't have to go and buy 3 sticks of "triple channel memory" do I?

My buddy is trying to install win xp onto a x-25m G2. He can install in ide mode but not ahci mode. Windows XP does not recogonize the drive in AHCI mode...
