i built a new pc yesterday and i have this problem

um, didn't you answer your own question? 512mb ram (GENERIC) 300watt psu (CRAPPY) sorry, but a 300watt psu could be pushing it, and the generic ram could be ungood.

    Gamer but Avid Multi-Tasker

heh, have you considered the possibility that it could also be what is on your computer? Are you bogged down with adware and other things that may hog cpu power? I can run many apps on my computer at once, a game, irc, music playing in the background, hosting a small site, and hosting a few...

Is this cool as hell, or am I insane?

okay... a lot of people have asked about running two psus... correct me if i'm wrong.. but a lot of new motherboards shut down the PSU in case of an electrical short or error.... so basically it's safer to just have one good PSU... and that's all you really need anyway EDIT: also the two...

Which is better? 4x Cheetah or 2x Raptor

A lot of people say that when your drives are in raid 0 without data redundance, you double your chance of harddrive failure... well, how often does your harddrive fail?

back to the problem, tryin to figure out why my build wont work!

Okay, update your bios to the latest revision, make sure that your dvd writer isn't in a special raid port, or it won't detect it, if those don't work, then just have the essentials plugged in and see if it boots...

    Tv-out woes

Did you try switching it to ntsc on your settings? Only do this if you have an ntsc compatible tv, what do you have? Switch it to that setting, hope that fixes it!

Why not combine power and data cables for the harddrive standard like 80 pin SCSI?

Well ya, it could all run thru a connectors on the mobo, just put 8 power plugs on there after making those plugs smaller with wire covers.... it wouldn't be too hard and it would clear up clutter

    Power up problem

no, 220v doesn't solve the problem, just the same thing. It isn't the cpu fan cuz i tried another one... any more ideas? Asus doesn't have motherboard phone support cuz they're cheap, so i sent out an email that probably will never be replied (sent on saturday)

    Power up problem

I don't believe it to be a power supply problem because there are no smells or anything coming from it. I don't see anything burned on it or the motherboard and it was working fine just the day before. I have tried unplugging everything besides the essentials, but still does the same thing. I've...

    Power up problem

The cpu fan does spin up when it turns on for that split second, i know that the cpu is seated correctly because it is lodged under the heatsink (lol) I have tried reseating everythin, the huge 20 or 24 pin connector (don't know how many) and the 4 pin connector. I will try to reseat the fan...

    Power up problem

I just braught my computer back from a lan party which worked fine there. I had the voltage switched to 220 (i live in europe) and plugged into 220 obviously. Then i went back home and switched it back to 110v and plugged it into my transformer, and to my surprise, when i turned it on, the fans...

well.. thanx for the little help i did get, but i figured it out.... i changed the default router ip address to 192.168.0.9 so that windows inernet connection sharing would work... i haven't got the network setup all the way yet.. but should this also share printers and files?
