LordSnailz, for me it means extra money. Look at Darkhawk28 and he says after 2042 then its only 73% - 80% solvent. Does that sound good for you or your children...

I too had concerns when I bought my radeon 8500.
I was happy with the geforce, but not content. Hard to say what I mean because the geforce was a great card for the longest time. But eventually it just needed to go. So on came the Radeon.

Nvidia releases this and then ATI releases that. or vise versa - and then the things we classify as great today becomes tomorrows cheap affordable solution and eventually junk.

In win 2k I try to install the drivers and it comes up and tells me I need to install a VGA adapter driver first...

If you don't mind the product activation of WinXP and your moving from Say a Win9x Operating System go for it. But if you have Win2k in my opinion I'd stay with it. WinXP is not that big a upgrade from Win2k in alot of ways.
Some of the reasons I wouldn't go to WinXP...ok 2 reasons.

I had this problem just about 2 weeks ago.
I use WIn2k and the problem occured after I received a BSoD for a invalid page fault.
My drive made this funny clicking sound about have way thru their drive test. Not sure what is was. I have a 45 gig 75gxp drive.
So the tech at IBM says run this...
To change you login and how your computer logs in you can do this.
right click my computer and select properties
select the Network Identification tab
Click Netwrok ID and follow the instructions (works for home user)
Try that and it should work. I don't know about your second question though...
Is there any way to get rid of a NTFS partitian on a hard drive and format to say Fat32 ?
Have a older 7 gig drive not in use and want to put it in a system thats not going to run windows2k or NT or anything...
Or am I SOL ?

You should not have one bit of problem with Win2k and Networking. I have essentually the same setup as for computers on a Netgear router. Netowrking took 3 mins to set up, besides setting the permissions :=)
Other than that :) it was a breeze
