At what age do you consider women to have hit their peak attractiveness?

Ah, right - sorry, read your post wrong.

    HD6670, HD4470 and DX11

Mind sharing the technical motivations? I ask not out of doubt, but mere curiosity.

Now this is a tight fit!

We have a tunnel like that in my hometown, with the difference that no bus driver would be mad enough to try going through it - wide cars (like mine) have enough of a problem. I consider it a miracle that I haven't scraped its walls yet, but they're full of paint marks from people who weren't so...

    Oscillating fan repair: best grease?

WD40 is a decent unlocker, but a bad lubricant. When it dries out it actually leaves a sticky mess. Use generic lubrication oil; they sometimes sell it as sewing machine oil. I use it everywhere and it does the job. In case the squeaking continues, I've found a solution that has worked in...

What lead singers from big bands make you think "How the F did they get the gig??!"?

The ability to write good music does not imply an ability to sing the same. He should have stuck to writing and let someone else do the singing. I find his voice acoustically offensive to disturbing levels.

Did we jump the gun on Futuristic technology?

Let me get this straight - you think massive technological miniaturization and a global information network are not significant upgrades? Scifi works on what's flashy, science works on what's effective. Scifi sees jetpacks and moon colonies, science sees bandwidth and efficiency.

Hey, how come we're not using vacuum for transportation yet?

Some research has been done in this direction. There is one huge problem: while creating a vacuum is not in itself very hard or unmanageably expensive, maintaining said vacuum over a very long stretch of tunnel that also has to let people and vehicles/capsules in and out is. It's cheaper to just...

At what age do you consider women to have hit their peak attractiveness?

There is too much variety to make a general argument. There are many that look ridiculously hot at 20 and then degrade; there are others that look funnily odd at 20, but stupidly hot at 30; there are yet others that benefit greatly from a certain mature look that they get at around 40. I don't...

    HD6670, HD4470 and DX11

I don't have access to all three. The one I pick will be mailed to me.

    HD6670, HD4470 and DX11

Sorry, my mistake - I meant a HD4770. Also, a new choice has popped up - an old 8800GTX, 1GB. Heat- and energy-wise it's a monster compared to the other two (though the PSU can take it), but I'm unsure of the performance benefit as it's the oldest design of the three.

    HD6670, HD4470 and DX11

Edit: title fail - I meant HD4770. Due to some dealings with a friend I have the option of choosing one of the two cards in the title as a freebie for my backup gaming box. I've googled, but I haven't come to a definite conclusion over which is faster. Both have 1GB of RAM, and the 6670 has...

86 mpg focus? ford, y u no sell this in america?

From what I recall the diesel cycle doesn't lend itself well to hybrid operation. I think it has to do with the continuous stopping and starting. Fuel costs three times as much here as it does in the US, so we save as much as we possibly can, hence diesels. If we had US gas prices I'm fairly...

Replacement MXM card for an Acer 5920G

I've been given a 5920G laptop for repair. Boots and runs the system, but there's no video output whatsoever, even on the external VGA. When I diagnosed the fault to its MXM card (something far from unheard of, apparently), the owner gave up, bought a new laptop, and I got the half-dead Acer as...

Atom N270: difference in performance where no difference should exist

Kernel changed (it had the old -486 one for old computers, changed it to -686), hyperthreading enabled, benchmarks now almost the same. The 1005HA is still some 5% slower, for some reason, but I'm too lazy to hunt down whatever weirdness is causing this tiny loss of performance. It's not like...

Atom N270: difference in performance where no difference should exist

Good sir, I gift you seven internets. No idea why, but the distro I'm using (Crunchbang Statler) enables hyperthreading on the 901 but not on the 1005HA. Booted up Puppy and suddenly hardinfo sees two processors on the 1005HA as well, and the benchmarks have gotten close enough to the 901's...
