Thanks for the help. I did get a multi-meter and the voltage on the PCI-e connector is good. I bought another video card to upgrade my other computer and it worked just fine in my epox board. So now I brave the RMA process!
Ultralight,
On the Crucial website, try going to the "Performance Memory" page and run the Memory Advisor from there. You will see the the Ballisitix IS compatible with the PNPA+Ultra. I have the same memory as you they work fine (once I installed a good video card that is).
I can relate...
Well its been awhile, but I got a new 6600GT from New Egg and tried it in my Epox mobo. It fired right up, beautifully! Now I'm sure I got a dead video card and that has been my problem all along. I haven't tried the bad card in a different board yet cuz my new board (for my upgrade) got...
Thanks deathwalker,
I think it's time to buy me a muti-meter and try that. I will update with what I find out.
This is my first build and I'm learning alot!:o
Sounds like a dead video card to me,only way you can be sure is to try it in a different PC,your PSU is more then adequate for the x800 video card so I would rule out PSU problem.
Thanks Mem,
I've been thinking the same thing. You know I've been planning to upgrade my old system after I...
This is a new build and it boots and runs fine with an old PCI video card, but won't even POST with my new x800gto2 PCIx16 card. You can see my setup in my Sig. I'm pretty sure its not a PSU prob. Things I have tried:
Updated bios
checked connections including video card power connector...
I flashed my bios to the 10/18/05 version and I even used the Magic Bios utility, but it still won't boot with my new video card. As I said everything works great when I put in that old PCI video card, but when I put my x800gto2 into the PCIx16 slot, then the computer won't post. I really wish...
Orcishhuman, I REALLY love my Lian Li PC-60APlus case. It comes with four fans including one that blows right on the video card and a funnel thing that suck hot air away from the CPU. It has a few gadgets you have to hook up, but the instructions aren't bad and I didn't think it was too hard.:)
Well, I flashed my bios to the 6/29/05 version (I used the bootable floppy method). I downloaded (using my new computer with the old video card in it) and installed the latest nVidia chipset drivers. And I am replying to this thread right now from my new computer with my Epox board, all other...
techfuzz,
I'm not absolutely sure about the bios. The bios screen says "v6.00PG, 08/04/2005 for nForce4 Chipset." I think that is the bios version that SPQQKY said was crap.:P What is the best current bios? And what is the best method to flash it. The manual says to use a floppy, but can...
Yes to all of the above. My PSU is an Enermax Liberty, model # ELT500AWT. It's 500w, duel 12v rails with 22A on each rail. It's modular and has a dedicated connector for the video card. I did have it hooked up to the card and the fan on the video card was spinning.
Hey Guys,
I have been reading this forum for awhile now and I appreciate the good info. This is my first build and I have a problem I need some help with. After I put my rig together and turned it on, it wouldn't post. The 80 port stops on code 25 which in the manual only says "reserved."...
