True, after running my 930 at 4ghz nonstop for the past few years I dont think it could hurt to be a little more energy efficient :p
Been tinkering with Turbo, currently stable at
212 muti
.175 vcore offset
1.337 QPI
Only downfall now is that at 3.8ghz its set at 1.29vcore as opposed to...
Whoops meant turbo! Once I stabilize the CPU at 3.8 & 3.6 ill test it with turbo on. Never used power savings on any of my processors, maybe its time to start :-p
Just passed 5 hours on prime torture test at 3.8 212x18 1.25vcore 1.337 qpi. Going to lower the vcore even more now.
Chip seems to be good to me. This chip is honestly WAY more QPI dependent as opposed to vcore. I just bumped my vcore down to 1.25 with QPI 1.337 and been stable for almost a hour at 3.8.
After I find my sweet spot at 3.8 im going to test 3.7/3.6 and see how low i can get it to be stable at...
Currently at 3.8 Stable for 2 hours of prime and multiple BURN tests.
Current settings 212x18 1.27vcore 1.337QPI 1.8PLL (how are these settings?)
I can have it stable at 3.6 with 1.23 vcore (or lower) and 1.25QPI. Is the 200 mhz worth the significant increase in vcore and QPI to stay stable...
Decided to join the fun and milk what I have left of this 1366 setup. Scored a brand new chip for $85 which is amazing. I can confirm that the standard Asus P6X58D-E detected the CPU as well (bios 0803). Its replacing my i7 930 which ran at 4ghz w/ 1.25qpi & 1.28 vcore.
Current setup:
Asus...
crashed after 5 mins of prime95
put ram back to 2.40b and its doing 800mhz now
lowered vcore to 1.29 and fsb to 333
time to test
how do i get 1:1?
its at 5:6 now that i changed it down with the fsb
im confused
i changed some settings and its booting now
fsb 360x9 (3.24ghz) - BSOD after 5 mins of prime 95 testing
now its at 333x9 (3.0ghz)
system multiplier (SPD) was on auto and it was doing 1000mhz i changed it to 2.40b and that does 800mhz
Vcore 1.29
vram 2.0
cpuz says this about my ram...
hey guys, i just upgraded my system, this is my current setup
intel Q6600 G0
GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3L motherboard (f8 bios)
G.SKILL 4GB 1000 (PC2 8000) ram
i got it to 3ghz by doing 9x333 last week but i upgraded bios (from f4 to f8) and now it seems to not want to do it or something...
i already own the card, that will be my next upgrade once i settle with the cpu and such!
im trying to future proof just a bit, i want to keep this system for atleast a year!
ok so im tired of my amd x2 4800+ and i want something new, ive been researching for a while and i think that i finally have found the set up that i like.. i do a ton of multi tasking, gaming, audio encoding etc..
so this is how my system will look like after the purchase
