Hi
I have a A8R-MVP which I've had enough of, and I've decided to upgrade it for Vista and so i can use all of my 4GB Ram as I can never get the ram working with the A8R-MVP.
can anyone recommend a board please?
I don't need 2 graphics card slots, but I do need something that will...
I'm having problems with my ram and my X1900XT runs too hot, which is triggering my radiator fan (not good very noisy) and raising my whole case temp , but because I have to put the card in the bottom graphics slot I can't change the cooler and also get my water pump in the case. On the...
Thanks ultralight. I'm thinking of getting the a8r32-mvp as I'm used to the layout of the a8r-mvp. I know I don't need the second graphics slot, but at least I'll be able to navigate the bios
Hi
My current spec is in my sig. I don't intend to run a second graphics card so i don't need crossfire (got 2 monitors and crossfire doesn't support 2). I need something stable with lots of overclocking potential. Aim to buy this weekend so need help fast please.
thanks

What does the RD480 HT PLL Control option in the BIOS do? I've just bought a 2nd card and I'm wondering whether I should change this.
Thanks in advance
The VCore settings seem to have some kind of memory on this board. I find if I'm having problems starting with a overclock that was steady before, I just reduce it a bit, let the system 'learn' that it is safe, then go back to my original rate.
I only have to do this if I've been moving my...
I've just installed speedfan and I love it. It's great being able to micro-manage my fans as I now know which ones are effective and which ones aren't, and are just making additional noise.
Quick question: What temp is the 3rd sensor reading on the A8R-MVP? It's saying minus -128C........
one final question - when you run prime95 on a dual core what tests do you run on each core? small FTTs on each core, or blended on one and large FTT on the other, or something else?
Thanks. I'm currently doing another Prime95 test which I'll leave running overnight (old habits die hard!) to see if my new settings are more 'stable'. I'll then run OCCT tomorrow evening.
How long does the full test take btw?
I've been testing my rig and it's only Prime95 stable for about 5-6 hours before crashing. I keep asking myself why is this a bad thing and why should I be aiming for 24 hours? I will never use my computer at the intensity level of prime95 for that long. Maybe, 8 hours occassionally if I had...
3-5% loss on ram performance or on total performance? The A8R-MVP has problems with 1T and I've virtually given up trying to get it to work.
Hmm, maybe I'm not alone then. I'll wait to see what other people recommend before I decide to keep/sell the ram
