    Future Hardware

Just trying to keep up on news. If prices stay competitive for the high-end processor market I'll have to build one.

    Future Hardware

Good point. I'll do some research on Bulldozer. But I must admit, the new i5, i7 processors look extremely tempting.

    Future Hardware

Yeah, that just about covers it. Seems like nothing ground-shattering is due soon. Does this mean that it's a good time to build a PC? I see a ton of deals for Sandy Bridge processors.

    Future Hardware

In terms of processors and video cards, what's on the way? The last time I built a computer was three years ago, and I sort of fell behind the times. I've been trying to find as many articles and posts that delineate a roadmap for Intel and AMD but have not had any luck. It seems like the...

    Performance Predicament

I am currently running an 8800GTS 320mb, and I am wondering if I should upgrade since the 8800GT 512mb provides a huge leap in performance. I could resell my 8800gts for something around 190-200 dollars, and could use that in order tobuy a new one. I need some feedback: is it worth doing...

    current e4300 overclock-ability?

It's true. I'm not sure where you can get the older revision of the E4300, but I think you will still be happy with its over clock. You should be able to get it to 3.0ghz no problem. Particularly if you're running at 9x333, which is perfect for the memory you have.

    Quad vs. Dual

Get the quad. Although some will argue that the E6750 has more overclockability, WHEN games that can use 4 cores come out, having those two extra cores will definitely be the deciding factor. If I were in your shoes, I would just buy an E2160. Both processors you're looking at, in my...

    Lock this thread please

Save her even more money. Intel E2140 - $76 Abit IP-35 E - $69 AR Minimum OC could bring that combo to E4x00 speeds. Not a problem at all, really. Other notes: You could probably find memory at a cheaper price than that. I'd recommend a different video card unless she...

    Putting Together The Final Pieces

Seems like you're going to be doing a lot with this computer. If I were you, I'd get a new HD. Probably 500gb, preferably Samsung HD501. I'm also not sure if the Q6600 is able to hit 3.4 ghz. It probably is, but in my limited scope of the forums, I've never seen it. As to the...

    what's the deal with lapping?

In my opinion, not really necessary. It reduces temperatures by a few degrees, and unless you're going to be doing HEAVY overclocking, don't do it. I also could be saying this because I was too scared to lap my own processor. :P I'm curious to see what other people do.

Price vs Performance, ordering new build tonight/tomorrow

I think you're forgetting what you started out your build as: budget. That, to me, means spending less than 900 dollars. Unfortunately, since you have to get a monitor, that changes things. MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L, $100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813128059...

Price vs Performance, ordering new build tonight/tomorrow

Hmm, interesting build. As for the case, I say go for the Centurion 5. I'm not sure what your PSU is, but I highly doubt you'll need that much power. I can't even find a page with details on it. Personally, I would recommend that new Corsair 450 watt PSU. It is most likely cheaper, and...

    Finding Memory Settings / Defaults

How do I find my RAM's default voltage? When I go into my BIOS, I don't see anything that relates to default voltage, rather, I see options that allow me to increase the voltage. My worry is that how do I know what voltage I'm using when I don't even know the stock voltage.
