Just how much horsepower do I need? HTPC/ NAS/ download box/ emulator/ etc etc

Link to an H77 Mini ITX board with 5+ SATA ports? I think I'm going to stick with the i3, since it fits the budget and I'd rather have too much power than too little. And thanks for the link to the Shuriken, that looks like a winner.

For those following along at home, I did find this case: http://www.logicsupply.com/products/a7879 that seems like a perfect DIY platform. Not that much more expensive then the Lian Li either...

Which NAS? Needs to handle 3TB drives, 4 or more

Lian Li has some Mini ITX based cases that hold 6+ drives. I dont plan on using RAID, so I'll just toss a cheap Highpoint card in to accommodate all the drives. Sure, its not as small as a prebuilt, but its damn close. The case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112339 The...

Which NAS? Needs to handle 3TB drives, 4 or more

Well, it looks like I'm building my own. I cant get what I want in a prebuilt for less than $800 or so, and I can build my own for around $500. Plus, I can make it do double duty as an HTPC, so its a win all the way around. Thanks for the help guys! I'll start a build thread when I get to...

Which NAS? Needs to handle 3TB drives, 4 or more

Hey boys and girls- Wasn't sure whether this should go in Memory and Storage or Networking, but I figured I'd start here. I'm migrating from my full sized desktop to a mATX rig, so I need to find a new home for 4 of my 6 3TB Hitachis. So should I look at Thecus? QNAP? Netgear? What's...

    Suggest me a mid-life-crisis ride

Late 80's E30 M3. Give it to a good shop to have either a S62 or an LS6 transplanted in (with a little bit of boost). Slam it on AST Coilovers, and get whatever 17 or 18in amazing wheels you want. Biggest brakes you can fit. High end paint job (lambo orange, graphite grey, and some exposed...

    Can a 560ti handle 2 x 30in LCDs?

Right now I'm running a GTX 580 with a Samsung Syncmaster 305t+ and a Dell 24in LCD, but for a pile of reasons, I'm thinking about going back to my old 560ti. I'm also RMAing my second 305t+, so once that's back, I'll be running the two 305t+'s. My question is, will the 560ti drive both the...

    have you ever been shot?

Yes. I worked in an industry that placed me in an active war zone for a while. It hurts. In my case, adrenaline was pumping hard, and by the time that wore off, I was in shock, so pain level, on a scale of 1 to 10 with 5 being the worst case of kidney stones ever, its a solid 7 when you're...
