Yup, I agree -- I got the L.

That's what I wanted to know: out of the box, does one router do anything the other doesn't do. (Yes, I know the L could do more if flashed.) Sounds like the answer is "no".

Right now, you can get the WRT54G (I'm guessing it's v7), or the WRT54GL at buy.com for the same price, $39. I don't plan to replace the firmware. Which one should I get? Does it matter?

I need to replace the drive in my Thinkpad T-40. NewEgg has Ultra ATA/100 drives and ATA-6 drives, which I think are the same, but I'm not sure. Can I use an ATA-6 drive? Thanks!

Ah, company for my misery! I have the exact same problem with my T40 -- only, I brought it in to an IBM service center today, and they said, "Nope, definitely not a hardware problem, it's your drivers." I've updated everything, flashed the BIOS, deleted & redected my USB drivers... no luck...

Bassyhead -- The computer's a laptop -- it's not always in the same place as the drive, so I can't leave it on as a network server.

No plan yet... hoping someone here will have an idea. I'd originally thought about trying to just adapt the mp3 player's connection to the drive's IDE interface, but then I realized that to do this, I'd have to take the drive out of the enclosure every time, which makes the solution too...

My idea: take an old HD-based MP3 player (iPod, Archos, Zen, whatever), and wire it up to my USB 2.0 external drive enclosure, so I can play the music from the big drive w/o having to buy a 40GB mp3 player, or set up a dedicated computer just to run iTunes. Anybody know if this is possible...

I've read that the Dell 2001FP and ViewSonic VP201b are actually the same exactly LG panel on the inside -- only the Dell one costs $550 on ebay, and the Viewsonic costs $800. Anybody know how to find out once and for all if they're the same? Thanks!
