    Any reason to upgrade? E4300 @ 3.15

I should go ahead and admit that I'm just getting an itch to tinker and am looking for any excuse possible :)

    Any reason to upgrade? E4300 @ 3.15

With all the chips flying around now with the 4MB cache and higher FSB, I've been itching to upgrade my system's CPU. Is this a dumb time to do it? I was thinking of maybe grabbing a 6550, but I wasn't sure if the CPU bump would really be noticeable. E4300 @ 3.15ghz 8800GTS 320MB 2GB PC...

P965 ethernet...just stopped working all of a sudden?

I guess the good news is that the damage was just limited to the board's ethernet capabilities (again, as far I can tell, no scorched areas of the board). Gotta love mother nature. I'm gonna grab a PCIE card today and hopefully that will work.

P965 ethernet...just stopped working all of a sudden?

So I was just sitting here, watching a movie on my computer. Heard a loud pop, but we were having a lightning storm so I figured it was a tree branch falling outside or something. A few minutes later, I realize my internet connection is down. I've actually narrowed it down to my computer, now...

High idle to load delta...what next?

Update: Well, I ended up reseating my HSF about three times, but didn't see any concrete difference in temps. I rolled back to stock voltages and clock speed, and temps were idle, ~33C, and at 100% load in TAT, ~50C. So, I ended up reducing my overclock to 3.06ghz (and vcore down to...

High idle to load delta...what next?

Yes, I have a back exhaust fan. One 120mm blowing out, two 80mm blowing in (one in front, one on the side).

High idle to load delta...what next?

Idle: Coretemp: ~40C TAT: ~42C Load: Coretemp: ~71C TAT: ~70C Load using TAT, 100%. Orthos (large FFT) is ~26C idle to load delta. Um...time to reseat the heatsink? Time for a new heatsink? (I have a Zalmann 9700 LED w/ Ceraminique) Ambient = 22C E4300 @ 3.2ghz (vcore...

Prime95 error on only one core

I left P95 going today after dropping the RAM down to stock timings and upping the vcore up to 1.425. On another note, should I read anything into the fact that when I set my memory's timing to Auto in the BIOS, that it's being timed at something like 5-6-6-5-18?

Prime95 error on only one core

Specs: E4300 @ 3.24ghz 2 GB PC-5300 RAM @ 4-4-4-12, ~700mhz (stock is 5-5-5-15) Nvidia 8800GTS Corsair HX520 Gigabyte P965-DS3 Vcore is set at 1.412, temps are fine (~40C idle, ~65 load), vDimm is at +0.2, MCH is at +0.1, and FSB is at +0.1. I can run dual instances of Prime95 for...

    8800GTS...can't run any game

Turned all settings back to stock -- still the same problem. Also, memory passed Memtest with no errors. I should also mention that upon my initial OC, I ran dual instances of Prime95 for around 30 minutes and received no errors. Temps maxed at 50 C. But as I mentioned, voltages...

    8800GTS...can't run any game

The only thing is that the crashes aren't random -- in fact, it's the opposite -- they occur whenever my 3D card is required for games, and not at any other time. I'll reset my OCing options and see if that helps. I'm still going forward with the new PSU, if only because I have nowhere near...

    8800GTS...can't run any game

Well, new PSU is on its way. Until then, I'm going to roll back all of my OCing options to stock, voltages, etc. However, should I even turn on/use the system? I don't want to kill anything. Obviously I'd just be web surfing or something else very minimal.

    8800GTS...can't run any game

I just discovered that my PSU only has only one 12v supply, and at 19a. Methinks this could be my problem.

    8800GTS...can't run any game

In HL2 and PCMark, I just got the typical "has encountered an error" dialog box. For Civ IV, it just flat out aborted on startup.

    8800GTS...can't run any game

I think those are the ones I rolled back to as well, but it didn't help. Maybe it is a PSU issue? I'll admit my PSU isn't the greatest, but I thought it'd be ok. During PrimeTest 95 TTs, my rail voltages fluctuated a decent amount, but nothing too bad. Are these supposed to always remain...
