    Maxima misfiring....

^^ not necessarily true. I bought a '02 Maxima SE w/57k miles back in 2010 (or 2011, don't remember) from Manheim's auto auction. I just hit 97k and the thing still drives like new. I also just bought a showroom condition '11 Murano SL w/25k miles (more believable I guess). Both cars were...

Lent my newish 2011 Accord 5spd to my bro-in-law, car feels weird now

Huh that's interesting. I had a squeak that sounded exactly like that (sneakers on a gym floor) when I dropped the clutch to the floor and mentioned it to the dealer when I dropped the car off for an oil change. They lubricated the clutch and so far so good, but I'll keep what you said in mind.

Lent my newish 2011 Accord 5spd to my bro-in-law, car feels weird now

Haha thanks guys. I've been driving it and it's grabbing better (I guess the glaze is wearing off)? It's not what it used to be but 100% my fault for not saying no to the wife's family. Lesson learned, never trust anyone with your MT even if they say they can drive it. The worst part is I...

Lent my newish 2011 Accord 5spd to my bro-in-law, car feels weird now

This was the absolute last thing I wanted to do, but my other car was having mechanical issues and they wanted to go out for decorations for my wife's baby shower over the weekend - I was in the middle of taking a final exam online so I couldn't chauffeur. I know he sporadically drove his...

    done with craigslist

I've been throwing tons of unused electronics/computer gear on CL lately, but some people are just shady.. So today I sold an i5 desktop I built and stopped using, eventually assuming I would have to part it out and sell parts individually. We agreed to meet at a local supermarket, and when I...

    dispute a mechanic charge?

Thanks guys. Zivik: no disrespect taken, but I drove the car from our place to Firestone on both the day of the oil change and the following day, when I went to drop it off for all this work. There was absolutely no vibration, trust me, I would have felt it. There was also damage on my front...

    dispute a mechanic charge?

See my old thread here for reference: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2195811&highlight=vibration About a month ago I went in to firestone for an oil change, no other symptoms, and they told me I needed new hubs/bearings and a control arm. Told me if I didn't replace them my...

Front end vibrations AFTER doing recommended maintainence @ firestone

Sigh. So last week I took my wife's car in for an oil change, and she was complaining about some squealing from the front right wheel. Didn't mention it to Firestone, but they said they noticed the front wheel bearings and left control arm needed to be replaced, and that it was not safe to...

350z or wait for an FT-86?

Sorry I disappeared guys, but you guys definitely had some good arguments while I was gone! Agreed with what most of you guys are saying, not much is known about the FT-86 and it will be underpowered. I've always driven an "underpowered car" (Honda's) so I'm not too spoiled...yet. :) The WRX...

350z or wait for an FT-86?

I've basically owned Honda's/Acura's my whole life, and since Irene took my 08 6spd TSX out I'm in the market...I don't *need* to buy a car anymore, as there's a vanpool to/from work leaving less than a mile from my place, but I like having a fun car. Also trying to get something...different...

I've discovered the great feeling of driving a manual barefooted...

Haha I'm surprised by everyone's comments..admittedly I had to "adjust" my shifting when I was wearing different things on my feet (sneakers, dress shoes, flip flops/sandals) but I think I got used to it within a few weeks (maybe months). Driving without any shoes is pretty fun; sure shifts are...

buying a car that sat for ~6 years?

Manheim, it's fairly big (they had almost 5000 cars up for sale this week in my area.)

buying a car that sat for ~6 years?

Thanks for all the posts guys, appreciate it. The car magically disappeared off the auction block before the auction, so it didn't (as far as I can tell) go up for sale. Never had a chance to see it since it disappeared off their inventory two days ago. I looked at two other cars, a '01 Maxima...

buying a car that sat for ~6 years?

That's a great question..I don't know yet. :) I've got access to dealer auctions, this car is going up for sale this week. Historically, assuming it was in AMAZING condition it would go for around $5500-$6000 for this mileage.

buying a car that sat for ~6 years?

I'm looking at autocheck (similar to carfax), and apparently the last time it was registered was 2005. A duplicate title was requested in 2010, and the car was put up for sale shortly after...
