Thanks, all, Well as I said, I used File Scavenger, which quidkly got back my whole drive and only cost $49. I highly recommend it. I was able to reformat the drive after saving all the data and it seems to be working fine. What could have caused the failure?

Yeah, that's the one...but I looked in my other pc and had a program called file scavenger that did the trick for nothing. Looks like my disc was corrupted or something...it is retrieving as we speak. That company though has very nasty terms.

Hey...I'm going to build a new system, since my old one is kaput...how do I save files like my email archives, downloaded programs, etc. I will, of course, burn them to disc before I reformat. All my data files are on separate harddrives.

Anyone have any thoughts...I am really frustrated!
